The Poppy Sisters by Deborah Carr

Somewhat predictable, but the characters are so endearing that you enjoy making the journey with them to see what actually happens. You have to love these people. Orphaned sisters are both nurses, serving in different places during WW1. They both fall in love with patients, which is forbidden to do in both places. But that's what makes it so interesting to read. Love it!! Hard to put down all the second half.

Jilting Jory

Historical romance. Wonderful story about Anna, a high society girl who met Jory in his hometown of Cornwall and fell in love. He was out of her class, but just what she needed. She had never had a loving relationship though and wasn't sure that Jory's love would last once he was around her more...so she chickened out and didn't show up when she was supposed to run off with him. Instead, she went back home to her fancy life without love, agreeing to marry two others but running away from the wedding each time. After the second one, she ran away from home to Jory's hometown to see if he had married yet. Her family shunned her, so she was without money had to work in a saloon for one of Jory's many cousins to earn her room and board. The cousins were hard on her, but she was determined, working hard at all tasks, and little by little they all loved her and rooted for her to reunite with Jory. But Jory was leery of her...and so the story is told. Excellent, heartwarming read with a bunch of people who are very close to one another and very endearing. Loved it!

Where Her Heart Lies by Carolyn Twede Frank

Excellent read. I'm a new fan, even though this isn't the first in the series. Celeste has been sent East to finishing school but returns home to Colorado and her parents after 5 years, because she was asked to leave. The finishing didn't stick. But she liked most of the things in her life from before, including Logan. He is a few years older, and hardly recognizes now her since she's not a little kid anymore. They had been the best of friends before. He's been trying to prove himself and live on his own for many years. He doesn't feel he's good enough for her, so even when they get close, he retreats. Another of her friends come to town from back east, looking to court her. Eventually this wakes Logan up, and the two take turns courting her. This path for them is quite entertaining as they evolve and realize what is really important. Logan has opportunities that open up for him, then messes it all up. Keeps you interested to the very end. Pulls at your heart strings all through the story. Endearing characters, even Logan's horse! Isn't that the most gorgeous cover too?

"Maybe one day in the future, they’d no longer notice the cracks in pieces of their life that God had put back together."

It was so good to pick up the story of the orphan train and three sisters again. Sophie was the youngest,  who ran away from the other two sisters as they sorted out their lives, always trying to provide a way to support them all. Sophie also took on the responsibility of two other very small orphans from the time they were babies. So many orphans lived on the streets of New York City,
surviving any way they could. When Mr Brace started the orphan trains it gave so many a new start, although no system can be perfect. A dangerous situation forced Sophia and her friend to flee the city with the little ones, and they were lucky enough to be included on a train. But it's not all smooth sailing for them, and they continue to have trying times. Heart wrenching details and well written characters make you endeared to them and feel all the pain and frustration of trying to adjust. And feel the love they have for one another. You'll fervently want all the best for each of them. God can bring the best to rough trails and make a way that's better than anything we could imagine for ourselves. The journey makes us who we are.

A really cute craft book. There are great easy to follow instructions for basic jewelry making included that you can apply to many projects. Add the special craft of origami, and you can make some endearing jewelry pieces. There are so many origami papers, in so many colors and styles that you can make several pairs of each.

It's hard to choose favorites, but I do especially like the iris and butterfly and the little stars are so dear! The finished examples shown make you want to make each and every piece - and extra to share with friends and relatives.

A very economical way to increase your jewelry and match all your outfits. Just don't lose the book, as I can see wanting to make more as time and outfits change. And I'm sure I will be watching the origami papers and find many I can't resist!

I think these pieces would be attractive to many ages. And I bet you could sell some finished sets on Etsy or Facebook.
