Vying for the Viscount by Kristi Ann Hunter

Christian Historical - Cinderella with horses
This is one of the most enjoyable books I've read. I didn't want to put it down. Bianca is raised by a stepmother who doesn't want her around. She goes to a neighboring stable to ride and exercise the horses because she loves them so much. Hudson has inherited the estate, arriving from India where he was raised. He doesn't know anyone, but as a member of aristocracy is expected to blend in and advance himself and his estate. Luckily he makes some good friends. Beautiful story unfolds of self discovery and learning what is important in life. Some of the most likable and alive characters you will meet. Loved It! Fabulous series.

Faith's Mountain Home by Misty M. Beller

1867 Settler’s Fort, Montana Territory
Laura is a bit of a challenge seeker, and is acting as a nurse and helper for the doctor and his wife. This is a continuation from a previous book, where Laura had been taken as a hostage and she accidentally shot Aaron as he tried to stop the other kidnapper. It had shattered his leg and she was helping with his care. Arron's twin brother Nate also came to town. He hadn't wanted to be part of the kidnapping. But it was all over now and he was trying to take on repaying all of the debt of what the gang had stolen. He is a good man, but is having a hard time believing he is worthy of friends. Laura is having a hard time that she was responsible for shattering Aaron's leg. They both have a lot to work through, and the story is well told. They both have strong faith to help them through danger and injuries. Excellent read. 3D characters that warm your heart.

Where Dandelions Bloom by Tara Johnson

This would make a fabulous mini series. There's so much to this story, and much is based on the life of a real woman who served in the civil war, without revealing that she was a woman. She performed so many tasks, and was excellent at it. Chosen because she was excellent for many duties, trusted and respected. Gabe is a Scot who raised himself up from the slums of N.Y. and became a photographer in the war. Their story winds through many paths, lined with faith. They both came from nothing and were important to the war. They have a bit in common, and were drawn to each other as friends right away. Excellent read, both learning to believe in themselves and each other and to have faith while working through the struggle of war. A get lost in in it book with never a dull moment.

The Immigrant Brides Collection

One of the most diverse collections that I've read. English, German, Irish, Scottish, French, Chinese. All with things in their lives to overcome, strengthen their faith, and realize that the journey is better when shared. Discovering the right person to share their struggles and burdens with. Most with issues of unfair discrimination and fitting in. Excellent read. Never boring. Unusual twisting, realistic tales.

A beautiful devotional – I love the way it’s written. Simple, down to earth readings for each day. Would make a great Christmas present. An example of the shorter hands-on for Sundays: “Some days all we need is three simple “ingredients” that convey optimism, trust and affection in our Lord.” She later shares a recipe for three-ingredient white chocolate cheesecake. Today’s reading was about Sticky Threads – oh what a tangled web we weave. It’s creative, talking about spiders and how they can navigate their web without getting tangled, but if we humans spin a web with lies, we surely will get caught in it. Interesting with a great perspective that you may not have thought about. An excellent gift for someone you love – or for yourself!

Winning the Gentleman by Kristi Ann Hunter

Oh how I love these books and the people in them. This is a continuation of Aaron, one of my favorites. Aristocrat born, but illegitimate, educated yet outcast. With some of the most loyal aristocrat friends. He is the stable master for two of them and in desperate need of a jockey when he inadvertently hires a girl from a circus for the job. The uproar and problems from this as well as responsibility to Sophia, the girl make for another engrossing story.  Both struggling to know whom they are amongst the pressure of the society people and what and whom are acceptable, folded in with the best of friends and support. Another lovely and touching story that is hard to put down.

The German Heiress by Anika Scott

Wow, what a deep story. Set after the war is over and the British are cleaning up, finding war criminals. Clara is from a family who owned an iron works factory. She ran it during the war when her Father was away. The German army forced them to keep it open and running. She did what she could for the poor Ukraine and other forced labor that was brought in. Even through her wealthy life there was another personal story, some of which she uncovers as this story unfolds, including her best friend. You feel the depth of struggle for life throughout and it's hard to put down. Very well written.
