A Bride's Journey to the Colorado Territory

I love a wagon train story. Cornelia and Raymond came over on a ship from Prussia, planning on going to gold country with a wagon train. They planned on making enough money to send for their parents. They met Jake and formed a partnership. At least Raymond did. He tended to tell Cornelia what to do, which was making her more angry all the time. The trip would take a long time, and there would be people to meet and hopefully for her to form friendships with. Nora is the same age as Cornelia, and is also unmarried. But her father treated her much differently, complaining she was baggage to be rid of. An interesting story of young people from different backgrounds, yet the same, learning how to live and be themselves, while on a journey that is always dangerous and not everyone survives. Strong women, standing up for themselves. Good Christian lessons. Looking forward to the next book!

Secrets of My Heart by Tracie Peterson

Portland, Oregon March 1879 Fabulous read - as are all of Tracie's books. Full of Christian lessons and wisdom for anyone trying to find their way in the world. The perceptions that we have can be so skewed, even though we feel we have reasoned out everything properly. We have that reasoning ability, but limited knowledge, even though we think we know it all. How do I know this?
Nancy is newly widowed, but doesn't know everything her deceased husband had been doing. Seth is a family friend who had originally been assigned the job of investigating a couple for Indian Affairs, but didn't realize that one of these people was Nancy until his investigation began in Portland. Deftly woven tale of mystery and discovery, for Nancy personally and of the crime. Takes place at a time of Indian displacement on Reservations that kept changing as their land was desired by men who didn't care about them, or anyone except themselves and their personal gain. A time of great discrimination.  Part of this family are Missionaries from a previous series. It's not necessary to read the other series first, but you will be glad if you do since they are such good reading.

The House At The End Of The Moor

England 1861
Oliver was wrongly imprisoned, with a vicious guard. Badly beaten, he managed to escape and was found by a house at the end of the Moor by Maggie's maid. Thus starts an interwoven tale of wrongfulness, healing and forgiveness. Plus a love story and Christian lessons. Keeps you holding your breath to the end.

Redeeming Light by Annette Ohare

Christian Historical Texas 1900
Our lives can be such a muddle, taking us on paths we never dreamed of, connecting us with people in all kinds of various ways. We go through our lives, just living, pleased or irritated with people and situations around us. We also have unique ways that drive us. Then things happen. Sarah recently lost her father, who was a rancher with an esteemed breed of cattle. But they only seemed important to her. The rest of her family had other plans. She sticks to her guns and makes plans with her Uncle to continue ranching, bringing her stock to his ranch, even acting as trail boss herself in moving some stock to sale. She meets Frederick, a lawyer in her Uncle's firm. Her Uncle trust him, but Sarah isn't so sure. Well illustrated Christian lessons and growth, including how good Christians influence others' lives around them. Examples of prayers answered when disaster strikes. Perspectives, and people, change depending on the circumstances they are in. What is important becomes more clear. Excellent read!

What Comes My Way by Tracie Peterson

1902. Jump right back into the drama! This is such a memorable series that you'll have no problem doing so. After all, this is a wild west show, with riding and shooting tricks, and it's all girls. Brookstone Wild West Extravaganza is an all-female show filled with women of extraordinary beauty and bravery. Their families and support staff go along as well, weaving a rich story. There are personal struggles, mystery, danger and breathtaking suspense as they travel the United States and Europe. Lots of wonderful Christian lessons, as Tracie does best, especially forgiveness. Secrets are uncovered, lives are changed. A special group of people, all endearing and easy to be attached to. Excellent read!

A heartwarming Christian Historical Romance! This is definitely a good one to add to your reading list. You'll quickly find all of the characters endearing, and feel right at home with them in 1866 Montana, where Patience has inherited a boardinghouse from her Grandmother. Patience has an early run in with the sheriff. Her struggles with him and her own opinion of herself are endearing. She learns Christian based lessons about herself and helps others to learn and grow, making the town a better place and enriching the lives of others she's touched.. Even her mother is changed throughout the story. You'll also find a murder mystery and other romances entwined. Maggie Brendan is a new author to me - I'll be sure to read any other books she's written! I'm a fan. There's an excerpt from the next book at the end of this one - I'm hooked - can't wait till it comes out.

A previous book written by Maggie is free on Amazon (double check before buying).
