Minno Laugh and Grow Bible for Kids - Easter
Do you have kids or grandkids?
I'm a fan! Even though it's in cartoon form, they stick to scripture and then explain in a "soft" format for kids to understand and be interested in. Since it's the story of Jesus, Easter and His resurrection they get the whole picture and know that Jesus is alive.
This isn't another movie where they make up stories adding to scripture and I love that about it. This format should hold kids' interest to learn about Jesus and the Christian faith. It's a great channel with lots of other Christian bible topics for additional learning and growth.
With the Minno Laugh and Grow Bible for Kids Easter Special available to watch for FREE, every child can hear the story of Easter and the hope that Jesus offers in a way that was made just for them.
Even if you’re not a Minno member - you can stream the Easter special for FREE at this link: https://gominno.com/lp/easter. (It's also on YouTube if that's easier.)

The storytelling approach of the series will keep you reading, even through the parts that are challenging and hard-to-understand. Discover that what God has done for them, He can do for you.
Book Excerpt
Genesis 2 unveils God’s perfect world where rest is a holy ritual of life, we live in relationship with our Creator and each other, and work is a partnership with God. The first whisper of tension comes in verse 17 when God tells man not to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God’s gift—freedom to choose—sends fear down our spines. We know what will happen because we know ourselves.
The writer notes in Genesis that Adam and Eve are naked and do not feel ashamed. That will soon change. Adam’s rebellion puts man at war with himself, God, and others. But for this brief moment we glimpse life as it could’ve been—as God intended it to be. Today, God’s breath within gives us hope of recovering what we’ve lost. His breath sustains us every moment of life, reminding us that He is near. He has not given up on the beautiful world He has created, and He has not given up on us.
COMPANION THOUGHT
Is rest a priority in your life? When was the last time you went a full day without working?

The Last Supper from Pinnacle Peak Pictures
I didn't like this. Scripture is strong enough to stand on its own. In the interest of illustration and explanation, they embellished on and added to scripture. I suppose that it might not do harm as it does tell the story. But I wasn't moved by it because it added to and left out the true, exact story. I suggest that you read the bible to get the story from there.
Buy tickets today to see The Last Supper in theaters starting March 14!
Synopsis: A cinematic Biblical journey that brings to life the ultimate act of love and sacrifice as seen through the eyes of those who walked alongside Jesus.

The Abide Bible
"Your word is a lamp to walk by, and a light to illumine my path. Psalm 119:105"
Thomas Nelson, New English Translation. This bible is absolutely GORGEOUS! The leathersoft cover with the subtle design is quite elegant. The feel of it is also wonderful; it's supple. The pages are gold edged and there are two beautiful ribbons for marking your place and maps in the back. Overall, it is a very beautiful bible and would make a wonderful gift.
The only objection I have is that there is a page near the front of the book called Explanatory Notes. Here they note differences in the text from different translations. Personally, I think they should be included as footnotes on the page with the text. The way it is, there is just a small mark that you have to pick up on as you read. You need to read the pages with the explanations and study them out.
If you're a fan of "coaching", this bible is for you. It excels in that area. Each double-page has things to contemplate, journal, things to imagine or picture and praying scripture and includes beautiful engage-through-art sections. These are in the margin areas of every page throughout the book. It encourages engagement as you read.
I was given a sample bible by Thomas Nelson. I was not required to give a positive review. These thoughts are my own and NOT influenced by monetary compensation.

The Time of Jacob's Trouble by Donna VanLiere
Set in New York and Israel at the time of the Rapture, seen from the eyes of a few different people who were not taken. There is much confusion as people try to sort out what has happened. One of the characters is in a cemetery and sees the graves around him burst open, the person being buried disappears. Others have people they know, including some family, disappear. These people had tried to give them the message that Jesus would be coming, but they didn't believe. Now they can see they were being told the truth. Two of the men are Jews and are visited by witnesses and told they are chosen as part of the 144,000 messianic Jews. Interesting story that is excellent at showing prophesy. I ate this right up, greatly looking forward to picking it up again each time. The story is a quick read, the rest of the book is very detailed information with scripture that explains how the Bible tells the prophecy in Revelations and many other passages. A fabulous manual for now and for those who will be left behind. I'm ready! Keep looking up, the time is close. It could happen at any time! Donna shows how many of today's world events fit right into the end times prophecies. Looking forward to future stories!

When Silence Sings by Sarah Loudin Thomas
This is an interesting and engaging book, right to the end. Step into an Appalachian feud, just like the Hatfield and McCoys, only it's the Harpe and McLean families. They've been in a feud for many years, some don't even know why. Colman Harpe will go through an experience both like Jonah and the Whale and Joseph when he resists God's call. Lots of bible lessons throughout, all good and well applied. Coleman is a preacher, and as good as he thinks he is, he still finds it hard to tolerate a McLean, especially after one just killed his cousin. But he's called to bring the McClean clan to God. Serepta is the head of her clan, and she's tough as nails. There's bootlegging, theft, kidnapping beatings and murders in this story. Just about everything you can think of. It's so well written you can't help but wish salvation and the best for each of them. In fact the characters are so real I caught myself starting to tell my husband something about a character one day (!)
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Ellie Claire 365-Day Devotional Journals
The Earth Is The Lord's and Everything In It
As the title says, this has a naturalist theme. If you love nature and the outdoors, you will enjoy this devotional (I do!). It has a beautiful peacock on the cover and each page, beautiful turquoise hues throughout that really appeal to me. One of the devotions is Devine Design. It asks if you had ever considered the purpose of fire ants, mosquitos or houseflies. If God designed the insects with such purpose, we know He designed us for far more. Psalm 139:15 & 16 are quoted. Another mentions the beauty of flowers, singling out the Bradford Pear tree. It is a beautiful tree, with very pretty flowers, but the scent is horrible (we witnessed this in the spring in North Carolina - it's true!). 2 Corinthians 2:16 is referenced. You'll find that the journaling lines are slightly wider apart, perhaps encouraging decorative writing.Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
Quite different in that the devotionals start with a line from a Christian song or hymn and finish with a quote from the bible. One is titled Shield of the Spirit, saying that seven times throughout Psalms it says to take refuge in the shadow of God’s wings. I’ve always loved that image and find hope in it. The cover and pages are really pretty with peach and cream colored flowers and feels slightly textured. Feminine and precious.Peace Begins With Me

Jerusalem's Queen by Angela Hunt
Beautiful enriching story. So much more than what you can find in Wikipedia! A very well written story of Salome Alexandria, based more on the writing of Josephus. The characters come to life and illuminate a time a generation before our Messiah. It helps so much to envision this part of the old testament and history. Told in first person through the eyes if Salome and her servant who came from Egypt. Salome doesn't think she is good enough compared to her sister, but God knows she will change lives and be remembered throughout time. Excellent teaching of the Jewish civilization.

From the Publisher:
Born in the small village of Modein, a town made famous by the warrior Maccabees, Salome Alexandra knows better than to harbor grand dreams for her future. She pales in comparison to her beautiful older sister, and though she learns to read at an early age, girls are not valued for their intellectual ability. But when her father and sister are killed, John Hyrcanus, a distant relative, invites Salome and her mother to live with his family in Jerusalem, where her thirst for knowledge is noticed and indulged.
When her guardian betroths her to a pagan prince, she questions HaShem's plan. When Hyrcanus finally marries her to a boy half her age, she questions her guardian's sanity. But though Salome spends much of her life as a pawn ordered about by powerful men, she learns that a woman committed to HaShem can change the world.
