The Fifth Avenue Story Society by Rachel Hauck

I'm not sure how I got into reading this, as I usually only read historical books. But start reading I did, and I was hooked. Lost sleep nights when I couldn't put it down. Interesting story of five people who came together by receiving an invitation from an unknown source. Five people in the New York City life and felt comfortable on Fifth Avenue for one reason or another. They met once a week, and became friends. Each had a deep secret that pulled out gradually. One was new to Jesus and the Christian faith, but she spread her faith and profession to the others. As the story progresses, they work out their own problems and help the others with theirs. Friends of the best kind. Excellent read.

The Painted Castle by Kristy Cambron

Growing up in an Irish family, I've been aware of the upheaval in Ireland since I was young. I do know firsthand the qualities of the Irish strength, sticking to a purpose that you believe in, and loving a good fight when you know you're right. The Irish are strong in their heritage as well. This story illustrates that beautifully, expertly and smoothly - woven from three different time frames. It takes you from the 1700s to early 1900s to present. It shows the reality of war and the people who live during it. The English "owned " Ireland for many years. The present time frame shows how not all battles are in history, and the vulnerable. And strength and resilience. Excellent read.

Where the Road Bends by Rachel Fordham

1880 Iowa. Historical fiction. Norah is engaged, having done so that she wouldn't lose her farm. She sees some buzzards circling in her field and finds a badly hurt man. Then both of their lives change. Things don't go as you might expect but that's what makes the story interesting. A story full of struggle and love, people finding a safe haven and given the chance to make things right, start a new way and reach out to others to help them have a good life too. Great read.

Driving Miss Darling

Now that's a romance! Alfie is quite swoon worthy, and his 7 brothers are too. All living in a small town with many more bachelors than ladies. And that's what brought Miss Darling there ... sort of. Get this book and read the why, where and how of it. And be ready to sigh.
Clean romance.

Love Along The Shores by Cara Putman

1942 Ocracoke, Outer Banks, NC. An area in the US that was under siege during the war, where U-boats were sinking our ships. The Coast Guard was constantly on the alert there. Lauren is a native of the island, John, a friend of her brother, is stationed there. Events bring them together that they have to work through, each with a strong faith of their own, in the country's and area's defense. Interesting story with lots of depth, although a small part of it. Very much looking forward to more of the stories in this collection!

His Only Son movie

For the first time in a feature film, the controversial account
of Abraham and Isaac will be brought to life.

Hard to believe that this was done on a small budget. Beautifully acted and photographed. The writer of this story has added his own imagining of what may have happened with Abraham, Isaac and Sarah. It does a really great job of bringing them to life. It's hard to imagine what you might do if God asked you to sacrifice your only son, how difficult it would be, what you would think. I do recommend that you read the bible to get the exact story of what is recorded. It's a very interesting story.

Synopsis: His Only Son recounts one of the most controversial moments in the Old Testament—when Abraham was commanded by God to sacrifice his son Isaac on the mountain of Moriah. While traveling to the place of the sacrifice, alongside Isaac and two servants, Abraham is flooded with vivid memories from the years he and Sarah spent longing for the son they were promised—the son he must now lay upon the altar.
