Written on the Wind by Elizabeth Camden

If you read before you go to sleep, plan on going to bed earlier. This is hard to put down. I fell in love with Dimitri and Natalia right away. Both are easy to picture and identify with. At first, they meet and begin to know one another by telegraph while building the trans-Siberian railway. He is in Russia directing the construction, she is in New York at her father's bank overseeing the project. Until the Russians massacred people along the border with China, people who were entitled to be there by Charter. When Dimitri witnesses it and refuses to participate in killing innocent people, he is stripped of his land and title and sent to a Siberian prison. His and Natalia's relationship is a bit complicated, but you can't help but invest your heart in their relationship and admire them both. Excellent read.

A Promise Engraved by Liz Tolsma

A story of people who were at the Alamo and before that, blends with a present-day couple, tied together through a piece of jewelry. Very interesting. Brings to life what it might have been like back then, some of the difficulties they had to live through. Santa Anna had invited people to come to Texas, then Mexico, for free land. Later he turned on them and became a dictator and people rebelled. Immigration back then and present day are touched upon, the humanity of it. Excellent read.

FAMILY CAMP is a faith-based family comedy from The Skit Guys, opening in theaters May 13.

It’s fun (and funny!) for the whole family … everyone from 8 to 80.

Great film, well made, very entertaining. Lots of faith gems within. Laugh a lot, cry a little and learn a lot. When you get as low as you can go, give it all up to God and He will see you through.

Nice to see a quality family movie, with a good message. It's nice to be able to view good clean movies.

Check out Anne Wilson’s Debut Album, “My Jesus”, which released April 22nd!

Love this new album! Anne's ministry shines through each song. Including Jesus in your life is so important, and it really comes through in these songs. Anne's voice and sound is unique and fabulous to listen to. I'm really drawn to it, as each song plays it grabs my ear and has my attention, saying words I feel myself.

I was especially touched by the song "Mommas". My Momma has always been there for me through every little thing. Always someone I can turn to who is on my side. She is now in her late 80s and has early dementia. Even through all of her own struggles, she is still 100% my wonderful Momma. This song is a wonderful tribute to her.

Frances Finkel and the Passenger Pigeon

This book is a gem. A story with positive things that happen with the main character. Not that Fran doesn't have her bumps along the way. It's an interesting story of the history of women pilots and pigeoneers as well. Beautifully told story of a girl who grew up in Oregon helping her father fix planes, test them and train others to be pilots. She had more experience than most entering the war in flying, with the bonus of being a mechanic. She had wanted to help in the war effort and couldn't understand why, if she had these talents, she couldn't use them because she was female. Then she saw a magazine article about a debutant who had gotten her pilot license and was ferrying planes. Fran's journey is an interesting one, with special people along the way to learn about as well. Adventures, love, loss, romance, travel, new professional lessons and highs. Excellent read.

The Watchmaker's Daughter by Dianne Haley

Switzerland 1942

I've always thought of Switzerland as being neutral. Just that. Anyone who went there was safe. Not very true at this time. Germany was threatening to invade, people were trying to escape from bordering countries and Switzerland didn't want to anger the Germans or be responsible for taking care of the refugees. There were Swiss police, the Swiss Army and Allies. Everyone was walking their own tightrope. Valerie's father was a watchmaker, needing to continue his business to support him and his daughter and make as many sales as possible. They had to be nice to everyone.
Valerie felt the need to help Jews and the Resistance. Philippe is in the Swiss Army, excels in leadership but is not in charge, assigned to special work with maps of their defense system. It's a dangerous time for all of them, especially when things aren't right and suspicions run high, people are being killed. And things are going on all around them both that they don't know about, friends and foes become mixed up. Tense, intense reading, constantly pulling at your heart strings. Hard to put down.
