Wherever You Go by Tracie Peterson

Never a doubt for 5 stars with this author.
1901 Christian Historical. The background for this series is a highly talented all girl wild west show. Mary is a sharpshooter, one of the best. The murder of her brother, revealed in a previous book, is still unresolved. Chris is a journalist who gets permission to do a series of articles on the show as he follows them around. He has secrets he doesn't want anyone else to know, and feels Mary could never love him because of them.

This is a continuation of the story for these characters, each fully developed and with a life of their own. Lizzy is a Brookstone, her family the owners of the troupe, and is one of the star performers. She is closer to Wes now, but Jason, son of their financial partner, steps in to run things and makes it hard for Lizzy. From a privileged background, Jason expects to get everything he wants - including Lizzy.

Tracy is so good at bringing several characters fully to life, weaving around their lives, and struggles with life, all intermixed with bible based lessons of Christianity. These people are all very talented risk takers, so there's never a dull moment. Danger and mystery with lessons of love and faith.

". . . as his stepmother used to say, . . . get glad in the same clothes he got mad in.”

5 Historical Romances Homegrown in the American Heartland
by Mary Davis, Kelly Eileen Hake, Tracie Peterson, Jill Stengl, Susan May Warren

"Lord, I can see I’m coming to the right place for help.’ Tis gonna take nothing short of a miracle."

God filled. Each story holds lessons of God's love for us and how to live our lives. A book you won't want to put down; a book you won't want to end.
A nice long read each. Some collections I've read tell a good story but get through it all too quickly.   These are great, and have a Christian message as well. There's a lot of detail, depth and expert storytelling.

1887 A real tomboy of the wild west that will steal your heart, and you'll feel her pain and struggle in this effort to keep custody of her nieces.
1874 Ireland shows Ewan coming to America and meets an Irish family while working for the railroad.  Deeply Christian values on how to live with honor and treat others.
Then There's Tracy's gentle story of pioneers in Kansas who are visited by a young circuit preacher, graced by inciteful preaching. Words to live by. She really poured her heart and soul into this story with such blessing and wisdom.
1881 Wisconsin A circus performer turned farmhand, hiding from his wealthy family. He meets his boss's daughter and learns about life and living in God's plan. Trials and struggle blessed this couple. Wonderful teaching of how lives should be led in God's light.
"She hadn’t considered that a foreigner, especially a German, would know the same God she did."
1918 South Dakota Two girls race to meet a train and send letters to their beaus overseas. A German immigrant is working in an indentured contract at a ranch nearby. I particularly loved this because of my German heritage. Immigrants before the war, but I always wondered how they were really treated here after the war started. If they had to be on the offensive. This is a beautiful story of finding God's plan for our lives. A story of true love.

Christian Historical Fiction. 1868 Dismal, Nevada. The old Wild, Wild West. This story is built with people from previous books and an underlying evil that needs to be solved. A Pinkerton Agent comes into the mix when one of the evil doers is shot. With a few pages turned you can easily get into the full story and keep straight who everyone is. Mary Connealy is one of those very gifted storytellers. It's easy to become fully engaged in the story and you won't even notice as time rushes by. The chemistry between the characters is deeply woven with pictures of old Nevada, including Lake Tahoe. Richly developed people who are painted with life stories.

Adventure and suspense from the beginning to the end!

A new Christian Historical Romance from Bethany House. This is not your girly girl regency style romance - not at all. Of course the setting in the Dakota/Idaho Territory in 1866 might give you a clue to that. As would the great cover of the book with the cute girl who has a short haircut and cowboy hat on.

The girls in this story, folks, all served in the Civil War pretending to be men. That must have been a great story. This is one of the few books that I think I would have been better off reading the previous book first. It took me a bit of perseverance to stick with the explanations at the beginning of the book, and then as the earlier story is revealed bit by bit along the way things start to make more sense.

This is the story of the middle sister, Shannon, who connects with mountain man Tucker. It's full of adventure right from the beginning, blended with a great deal of humor and biblical & faithful lessons.  You hear these days about people who come back from serving in the military and the issues they deal with. You don't hear as much about those who fought in the Civil War and what it was like when they returned. How they coped. Usually you read about how those left at home survived.  You truly feel for Shannon who was forced to sign up for the war and then had to do things during it that none of us would want to do, let alone a young girl. And a tough girl can still only take so much. And then you wonder if a mountain man is a good match or a bad one. This is a good read with lots of adventure and mystery to keep you page-turning until the end!
