When Twilight Breaks by Sarah Sundin

Another masterpiece from Sarah Sundin. Christian historical. Germany 1938. Peter is teaching in Munich, Americans to speak German fluently. Evelyn is a reporter who would prefer to be reporting from Berlin. She's fiercely independent, wanting to be taken seriously, a serious writer. And she's good, but the editor keeps censoring out content to make her articles more pro German. They are just beginning to see Hitler for what he is, and she wants her readers to know and realize. At first Peter only sees what the Germans who welcome Hitler's leadership see. Little by little things are revealed to him. With his contacts he can help get inside information to Evelyn. She had been treated badly before, and doesn't trust men. Little by little both have their eyes opened. It gets very hold-your-breath dangerous and I guarantee you won't want to put it down. Many gems of wisdom.

A Cowboy For Keeps by Jody Hedlund

Christian Historical

Greta came into town with her sick little sister, intent on being a Mail Order Bride to take care of her. But she learned that the husband she had come to marry had died before she got there. A kind man she had ridden on the stagecoach with organized a deal with another young man to marry her instead. It wasn't what Wyatt had intended to do, but Mr. Steele pretty much forced him into it. He took Greta and her precocious sister home, and they moved on trying to make the best of things. As time moves on they find they are good together, but each carries their burdens and denies themselves to a closer relationship. An engrossing tale of living in rugged early Colorado and people struggling to make their lives better. Deeply wounded, tugging at your heart strings the whole time. It's going to be an excellent series with more of Wyatt's family and Astrid growing up. Looking forward to the next one!

The Way of Love by Tracie Peterson

Christian Historical Oregon 1879, 1880
A continuation of an interesting series. Faith was born as the result of her mother being raped in a Native American uprising, first adopted out and then she was raised on a Reservation. She looks white. A gifted healer, she goes to Portland to attend college to be certified as a doctor, then return to the reservation. At that time, people of color did not have any rights in Oregon. Blacks were not allowed in the state at all. Native Americans could not marry a white person or attend college. In this story there are powerful men who want to rid the state of Indians and sell their land for profit and they would do almost anything to eliminate people who stood in their way. Mostly in secret of course. Some of these men carry over from the previous books, so Faith's family is still in danger. It plays a very big part in what happens in this story as well. Andrew is a ship's captain who comes into Faith's life and plays a big part in her family as well. Excellent series to get lost in. Living with discrimination, good, caring people wanting to help others. When they step out of their bounds and speak out for fairness, they are deeply punished by the evil ones. Christian faith and perseverance runs strong throughout the story.

Runaway River: The Bitterroot Mountains Series by Kim Taylor

1897 Chicago then Hamilton, Montana Christian Historical

The first book in a new series with the promise of good stories to come. Beth, her younger brother Michael and sister Maggie lose their parents suddenly and tragically. Then a predatory man who wanted their property lied to them and scared them so that they ran from town. Towards an opportunity seen in a newspaper ad, that wasn't a viable one when they got to Montana. Desperate for a way to support them all, Beth finds a job with Calamity Jane in her restaurant. Interesting place to start a new life. Also in this story is Ethan - handsome, godly and sturdy of character - getting a start after years of hard work on a new horse ranch of his own. They all struggle with their own issues, ups and downs, with an interesting story that weaves through as they work through their challenges and relationships with God and faith. Riveting. Hard to put down! I can see that there is so much more left to come in the series and can't wait till the next book comes out! (Love that cover.)

Before The Wrath - movie

Documentary style movie narrated by Kevin Sorbo. Evidence from the time of Christ shows how and why the rapture must occur in the last days. Well told movie helps explain that the upcoming Rapture is not only real, but why this event must soon some to pass. Regardless of your end-times views, this will captivate believers and non-believers alike; revealing new depths of theological understanding regarding what Jesus revealed to the ancient Galileans about the end of the world in his teachings. I recommend watching - there's something to be learned. And good reason to look forward. It is important to share stories of Christ to others so that they can share in His love and won't be left behind.
I was given a digital copy of this movie to watch but I was not required to write a positive review.

Besotted by Jody Hedlund

Enchanting fairy tale of the best kind with depth, full life lessons, danger and of course a story of true love. And princes and princesses in disguise, living as paupers. Wonderful protectors who love them. Journeys that make them stronger and the adults they were meant to become. Kingdoms taken over by nefarious means, and returned to the rightful rulers, who love their people. Ahh sigh. A wonderful story. Disney should make movies from this series!

A Gilded Lady

I really like these characters, and their stories are so interesting. Caroline and her twin brother are the renegades in this wealthy family, but always seem to land on their feet. Until Luke is wanted for treason and ends up in a Cuban jail. Caroline, with her penchant for giving big parties went to work for President McKinley's wife as her secretary, fitting right into that high profile life. And she met the head of the Presidents' security who is a stickler for rules. Caroline is an interesting mix of spoiled wealth and loyalty to the people she cares about, with a sense of duty and protection. She really challenges Nathaniel. But they find they have more in common than they think, and grow to admire each others traits. So interesting story of behind the scenes life at the early White House, mystery and intrigue.  I was easily hooked and ate this right up, finding it hard to put down. A highly interesting and complex family, this is a series to immerse in.
