Synopsis:
Juniper Blume has lost her father, her fortune, and her home. When a loan shark promises a solution for her to keep her lavish lifestyle, she accepts. When one of his men dupes them both, Juniper’s life becomes payment. To save herself, she flees Boston and travels as far as the meager coins in her purse will take her—Freeport, Maine.
Ford Connelly has made a name for himself, making the first waterproof hunting boot. His store, Connelly’s Hunting and Apparel, is booming and his catalog orders are growing monthly. On the cusp of a new century, more women are taking part in outdoor recreation than ever before, and he wants to lead the market by creating functional outdoor wear for women, too. When a beautiful woman stumbles into his store, claiming she’s an outdoor enthusiast and the perfect designer to create his vision, he hires her.
Though her talent for design exceeds his expectations, the more time Ford spends with Juniper, the more he suspects she knows nothing of the outdoors. She’s clearly running from trouble, and her vulnerability and captivating personality make him want to protect her. When their weekend outing in the woods with the Appalachian Mountain Club goes terribly wrong, Ford and Juniper must decide if the lives they’ve been seeking are what they truly want or if they’re willing to risk a little adventure.

Catherine’s Pursuit by Lena Nelson Dooley
Conclusion of a lovely series. Triplets were born on a wagon train. Their mother died and their father was so overwhelmed that he adopted out two of the girls to other families. Eighteen years later Catherine learns the truth and sets out to find her sisters. This is her coming-of-age story - going from spoiled rich girl to learning what's important. Beautiful characters that you have to love, lots of personal growth to see them through, endearing them to you all the more. Loving story to be immersed in, right to the beautiful end. Great series!

More from Lena
I’ve spent a lot of time with these triplets. They almost feel like part of my extended family. I hope my readers feel that way, too.
I have walked with the Lord for most of my 82 years. He has been with me through hard times and wonderfully blessed times. We learn and grow in Him more in the valleys than on the mountaintops. That’s why I write books that show how much He loves. We can’t understand the depths of His love for us unless we need Him desperately. I write these stories to share that love and hope to my readers.
While I am writing a book, I often pray for God to give me the words that will touch readers who need to know Him more. I also want to write a story that will entertain them as well.
If you want to bless me, please leave a review somewhere about the stories you love. I do try to read reviews and learn from them.
I’m only 15 months from losing the love of my life after spending 59 years with him. If the Lord puts me on your heart, please whisper a prayer for me. Prayer changes things.

Book Excerpt
But at least Daddy knew I wanted to be a singer, even if Mom didn’t.
“What do you think is for dinner, Candy?” Daddy changed the subject, “The maid has the night off and your mom said she’d make something tonight.”
“Mom’s cooking is way different than the maid’s,” I admitted. “I’m not sure.”
“I’m going to guess we eat pasta salad.”
“Again?” I groaned. Anytime Mom said “she’d make something,” it always turned out to be pasta salad.
“What ‘Again?’” Mom must have heard us as she came through the side door. She adjusted her french twist and joined us at the table. “Never mind. I’m sorry I was late, Rob.” She ran her fingers through Daddy’s curly blonde hair. “I had to take Candy to co-op, then swing back because Michelle and I had to be on the new development site. You really acquired a slice of gold. That land is gorgeous, but as always, the team had questions again. Thankfully, Michelle remembered my folders.” Mom tapped my co-op folder and gave me a “do-your-homework” look. I grabbed it and sighed.
Mom looked at her phone. “On another note, I thought we could do a sunset theme for Friend’s Night Out with Chris. What do you think?”

The Ragpicker: Salem Village - Novella by Pegg Thomas
Salem Town and Salem Village 1691, taking place before the Salem witch trials. There were struggles between the Puritans and the Quakers - had been for many years before. Little 8 yr old Verity's family all died, and the Puritans gave her to an old, widowed woman who lived in very run-down conditions. She had other orphans as well and took all that was given to her for their care yet provided very little to the children, turning them out to work to support themselves. Verity is pitied by the others in town, but one family, Quakers, especially showed her kindness and determined to get her away. Heart wrenching at times - you'll need tissues and will hold your breath wondering how it will turn out, so believably written. Good faith lessons. It will leave a mark.
I received this book free from the author and publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
