A lovely story, so well written you feel like you're there. It's 1854. Isabelle grows up with her father being a lighthouse tender on Presque Isle, Michigan. Her mother has died from a fall in the light house, and Isabelle is protected by her father - so she doesn't fall and because of her eyesight. She sketches all things she finds beautiful in an effort to memorize them. She's resigned herself to the fact that no man would ever want her.

Shipwrecks are what the lighthouse is there to avoid, but sometimes it just isn't enough. Henry floated ashore on a piece of wreckage, half unconscious with a bullet in his leg. He's holding onto the hand of his business assistant - who hasn't survived. He's also in shock from the cold of the water. Isabelle and her father bring him to shore and give him care.

Therein lies the tale where lonely Isabelle cares for Henry, a handsome, wealthy businessman in a very dangerous situation. And the lake is just about to freeze over. A romance sure to tug at your heart and make it sing! I'm reading the next in the series now.
