The Bride of Blackfriars Lane by Michelle Griep

1885 London. Oh it's good to return to Kit and Jackson's story. Two loveable, stubborn, independent, deadly skilled people who are well suited. But this much independence makes it hard to give the lead to the other and to build trust, when they hold back in order to fight crime and solve cases in their own way. Interesting cases and mysteries for them to solve, coming close to home. Thoroughly enjoyable read every second of the way!

Beneath the Bending Skies by Jane Kirkpatrick

I always love Jean Kirkpatrick books. You can always learn something, they're full of quotable quotes and words of wisdom. Especially for women. To make you stronger, understand yourself better, see the world in a clear light. This is based on the true story of Mollie Ronan set in the mid to late 1800s. I also had a blue-eyed Irish father that from my teenage years on I found nearly impossible to please. He did not give me his blessing when I married either. Mollie was a very interesting, strong woman who learned and grew all through her life. She went through difficult times, mostly in Montana. She and her husband ultimately ended up on an Indian reservation, he as the Agent, during turbulent times. She was such a solid person and with her family lived strong in faith, much loved by others. An important person in history. As always, an interesting and deeply enriching read. A biography that you live through with her.

Gigi and Nate

Deeply emotional movie. Oh my gosh. I think I experienced every emotion during this film. Happy, heartsick, cried, angry, makes you want to fight, makes you want to fix things, make people understand. You can't have a heart and watch this without feeling deeply. This is one of those movies where I talked to the screen many times. The people responsible for putting the cast together got it spot on. Each and every one was completely believable as if this was happening to them. It must have been difficult to act the story and not want to fix things themselves at times. Fabulous for a family movie but is great for any age. There is a short stint with drinking and another with a gesture, but honestly I clapped for that. Can't recommend this highly enough. There's so much junk out there offered as movies. This is a top 10 choice.
I was able to watch the movie for free for posting a review but was not required to post a positive review.

Matters of the Heart: A Shumard Oak Bend Novel (Discerning God’s Best)

1866 Shumard Oak Bend, Missouri. Very well written Christian Historical Romance. Katie is a fiery Irish girl, with tons of determination and lots of spit. I'm Irish too and understand :) She fights with Hans right from the start, and you just know they'll end up together. They both have a lot to learn and struggle through, hurting each other and themselves as the story is told. Love runs deep and God brings healing. Excellent story of Christian faith. Heart sighs.

Lifemark

After watching the trailer this looks like a great family movie to watch and share. The importance of giving life to babies - well I don't even have the words. This girl chose to give birth to her baby. Yay! A win for all involved by the looks of the trailer. It's a movie that our family would watch for sure. Looking forward to the opportunity.

The newest film from the Kendrick Brothers called LIFEMARK, releases in theaters September 9th!

The Woman with Two Shadows by Sarah James

1945 New York and Tennessee. This is about twins who had a very close relationship, with the "older" one feeling the protector. After a huge confrontation, the younger one, Eleanor, goes to Tennessee to work and find her boyfriend. Later, when she disappears, her boyfriend contacted the other twin, Lillian, to help find her. The location is on a secret military base where they are developing the fusion bomb. Spies, danger, murder, love, hatred, psychological twists, higher intelligence thinking all flow over one another. Lots of raw feelings exposed. Keeps you hooked as the story unfolds in a way that keeps you guessing to the very end. Not the nicest people, but there are moments of soft feelings and vulnerability.
